“Mock MATNESS” Deep Dive: 141 lbs.

This is where we take a closer look at individual weight classes. Using the most recent coaches poll, we can anticipate potential matchups. This in no way represents an accurate prediction of how the bracket will be seeded for this March. However, it’s part of the fun! The 141 lbs. bracket is one of consistency. There is a clear top-tier. Those below that level form the rest of a DEEP weight class.

1st Round: Wrestle MATNESS tends to error on the side of experience, so we’ll do the same here. Malyke Hines over Wyatt “Jim” Henson. Cole Matthews was once a NCAA finalist, his stellar defense will be tested and pass against Mitch “Throw” Mo’!

  • Jordan “Titus Touch” beats Jesse Vasquez

  • Crafty vet Cody Carlson falls short against Freshman Sergio Lemley

  • CJ Composto with a minor UPSET over Tom “dirty” Crook.

2nd Round: All-Timers square off when Real Woods takes on Cole Matthews. Maybe Woods can get a turn after a 1st-period takedown but I wouldn’t count on it. It will be close to the finish but I don’t see Matthews pulling it off. I like the matchup between Vince Cornell-a and Lachlan McNeil, will be fun to watch. we’ll select McNeil given his recent performances in the clutch.

  • Cael Happel survives Jamison

  • Brock Hardy outwits Titus

  • In an absolute thriller, Anthony Echemendia defeats Lemley (11-9)

Quarterfinals:

  • Beau Bartlett looks SOLID in the win.

  • Lachlan McNeil holds on to UPSET Ryan “New” Jack City

  • Standard Real “Tiger” Woods vs BROCK matchup with the early takedown as the difference.

  • Mendez finishes off ex-buckeye Echemendia

Semifinals:

  • Beau handles Lachlan

  • Jesse Mendez finally gets over the hump and takes down Woods!

Finals:

  • Both wrestlers escape and it’s 1-1 late in the 3rd. Controversial takedown awarded to Bartlett and as action continues, Mendez with a reversal and danger back points to edge Bartlett at the buzzer! Jesse Mendez is a NCAA National Champion!
