“Mock MATNESS” Deep Dive: 149 lbs.

This is where we take a closer look at individual weight classes. Using the most recent coaches poll, we can anticipate potential matchups. This in no way represents an accurate prediction of how the bracket will be seeded for this March. However, it’s part of the fun! The 149 lbs. Bracket is known to be a high flying weight class, I don’t think 2024 will be any different!

1st Round: Drew Roberts gets “Munson-ed” by the wrestler from Central Michigan in a stunning come from behind PINFALL! Both Ty Watters and Gabe Willochell are extremely talented, but we’re going with the West Allegheny product over former Edinboro standout.

  • Jordan Williams minor UPSETS Miller

  • Parco holds off a scare from Nash Singleton

  • Swiderski uses his toughness to hold off Rider’s Quinn Kinner

2nd Round: Tyler Kasak is able to get revenge on Caleb Rathjen after the dual loss this season. Casey . Swiderski presents a problem for Abas’ style and it shows as the match goes on. Ty Watters keeps it going with a Fall on Chance Lamer after a tight match through 2 periods.

  • Olympic Qualifier and High Flyer Austin Gomez over Dylan D‘Emilio

  • Henson takes out J. WIlliams

Quarterfinals: Ridge Lovett had a close match against Kasak earlier this year, but not this time. Ridge puts Kasak in a “bridge” and scores a Major Decision. Watters still looks great but Caleb Henson outclasses the Mountaineer.

  • Gomez survives Jackson “Lavar” Arrington

  • Kyle Parco uses athleticism to beat Swiderski

Semifinals: Austin Gomez forfeits out of the tournament after Lovett wins in overtime. Ridge is a little relieved to see Henson take down Parco.

Finals: Ridge Lovett with his HIGH “Entertainment Rank” wins the all important scramble late in the 3rd to defeat a worthy opponent in Caleb Henson. Afterwards, Ridge hits a questionable pose for the camera but delivers the goods in a post-match interview with Quint Kessenich!
